Richard Ambrose Heatherton
August 22, 1944 — May 14, 2016
Mr. Heatherton was educated on Long Island, NY and graduated from St. John's University in Queens, NY with a Bachelors of Science in business. Following school, he served in the U.S Marine Corps Reserves and then went on to have a career in business. In 1975 he moved to Kingston, New Hampshire where he lived for 39 years . This is where he raised his family and was active in church and the community. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Frederick, MD where he enjoyed getting to know a new community and serving at the Frederick Rescue Mission. Most of all he loved his family and enjoyed time with his grandchildren. He was known to have 200 pounds of love in a 150 pound body.
Mr. Heatherton was the devoted father of Dr. Christopher Ambrose Heatherton and wife Amie of Hampton, NH and Keri-Ann Patricia Henson and husband Adam of Frederick, MD, the grandfather of Stella and Leo, the brother of Mary Gonzalez and her late husband Jose, Catherine D'Amico and her late husband Philip, Raymond Heatherton and wife Marjorie and Susan Reilly and husband Kevin. He will also be missed by his life-long friend Vincent Fitzgerald.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21701. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 11 am at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 4103 Prices Distillery Road, Ijamsville, MD 21754. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Heatherton's name to The Frederick Rescue Mission, 419 W. South St., Frederick, MD 21701, St. Vincent de Paul Community Assistance Center, 53 Lincoln St., Exeter, NH 03833 or to Edmundite Missions, 1428 Broad St., Selma, AL 36701.
