Spedden Alward Hause III, 72, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Linda Clare (Marlow) Hause.
Born on February 29, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Spedden Alward and Ruth Catherine (Sheedy) Hause Jr. Spedden graduated from Hood College in 1984 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Economics. He continued his studies and earned a Masters of Science degree in Applied Behavioral Science from John Hopkins University in 1986 and his PhD in Organizational Behavior and Development from the University of Maryland in 1993. From 1962 to 1991, Spedden worked with Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company, staying with the company as it evolved into Bell Atlantic and Verizon. After retiring from Verizon in 1992, he began a teaching career at Hood College and other local universities before becoming the academic director at University of Maryland University College. He retired after 10 years and was most recently serving as an adjunct faculty member with Shepherd University's MBA program. He was a member of Baltimore/Washington chapter of The AK Rice Institute. Spedden studied the guitar privately and through Frederick Community College with Candice Mowbray. He enjoyed traveling and spent the last four years volunteering at Green Valley Elementary School.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Chris Hause and her husband David Wickham; brother, Robert Edward Hause; sister, Katherine Vetter and husband Jerome; and granddaughters, Rachel A. Vaeth and Charlotte C. Vaeth.
