Mrs. Janet Lee Date, age 75 of Frederick, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy. She was the loving wife for 48 years of Donald Robert Date, Sr. Born on October 21, 1940 in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Marie A. (Deluca) O'Connor.
Mrs. Date graduated from the Institute of Notre Dame in Baltimore. Later in life she continued her education achieving an AA degree at the Frederick Community College and later graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA degree from Frostburg University. She worked for the Frederick County Attorney retiring early to take care of her mother. She was currently a member of St. Katharine Drexel Roman Catholic Church and a former long time member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, both of Frederick. She was a third order Carmelite. In her free time she was an active member of the Republican Women's Club and was an active reader enjoying books about her faith, history and fiction.
In addition to her husband Mrs. Date is also survived by children, Mary Elizabeth Duke and her husband Dana, Rita A. Snyder, Cynthia Marie Schwemmer and husband Ray, and Donald Robert Date, Jr., and his wife Patricia (Trish), her 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Cecelia Walters, J. Patrick O'Connor, and Robert S. O'Connor. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Kathleen Galiano.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 10 to 11 AM at the St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 E. 2nd St., Frederick where a mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 AM. Father Keith Boisvert will officiate. The interment will be private in St. John's Cemetery, Frederick.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Father Keith and all the volunteers at the St. Katherine Drexel parish, Shepherd's Staff and the Kline Hospice House who provided wonderful care givers, The Frederick Carmelites, Adoration Chapel at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Libertytown, and countless friends who prayed for us.
