Ronald Gusta Wachter

Ronald Gusta “PoPo” Wachter, 71 of Frederick, MD passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016. He was the husband of the late Rachel Fifer McGuffin Wachter.
Born October 18, 1944 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Maynard and Margaret Wilhide Wachter.
Ronald was a 1962 graduate of Frederick High School. He retired as a firefighter from Montgomery County Fire & Rescue, Co. 14 Upper Montgomery, Beallsville, MD. He also previously worked part-time for Frederick County Fire & Rescue at the Independent Hose Company No. 1 and Citizens Truck Company No. 4. He enjoyed his daily visits to the Independent Hose Company and volunteering on Co. 1’s Canteen.
He was a Life Member of the Independent Hose Company No. 1 and Citizens Truck Company No. 4; Sons of the American Legion FSK Post #11, Frederick; and Moose Lodge 371, Frederick.
Ronald is survived by his son, Aaron “AJ” Wachter and wife Katie of Frederick; three stepchildren John McGuffin and wife Lauren of Boonsboro, MD, Becky Cooper and husband Tommy of Frederick, and Matt McGuffin and wife Julie of Buckeystown; grandchildren, Molly and Logan Wachter, and step grandchildren, Ashlee, Jesse, and Mia McGuffin,Coby Rosemier-Gussio, Simon and Charlotte Cooper; a sister Doris Wenschhof and husband Larry of Frederick, and niece Stacy Wenschhof Rumpf and husband Randy of Frederick.
Friends will be received on Thursday, June 2, 2016, from 2-4 and 6-8 p. m., at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where services will be held at 10 a.m., on Friday, June 3, 2016. Interment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Independent Hose Company, 310 Baughmans Lane, Frederick, MD 21702.
