John Clinton Wright, Sr.

Mr. John Clinton Wright Sr., 90, of Frederick, died peacefully Friday, June 3, 2016 at his residence.  He was the loving husband of Betty Wright for 69 years.

Born February 15, 1926, in Hawbottom, MD and he was the son of the late Roy E. and Mary Elizabeth (Main) Wright.

John served with the Marine Corp. in the Pacific theater during WWII.  He enlisted at 17 for the duration of the war and was twice wounded in combat during 4 major campaigns.  He refused the purple heart twice so his parents would not find out he was wounded.  He owned his own custom home building business for 30+ years; his business slogan was "Build Right with Wright". H e was also a long time active member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Frederick.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, John C. "Jack" Wright Jr. and wife Maureen, Vickie W. Cresap and husband Mark and Patti L. Misko and husband Robert, grandchildren, John C. Wright III and wife Christine, Kelly Rogers and husband Jeremy, Erin McKinney and husband Michael, Brad Misko and wife Sophie and Scott Misko and wife Ashley, great-grandchildren, John C. "Jack" Wright, Benjamin Wright, Collin Rogers, Gavin Rogers, Hannah McKinney, Hailey McKinney, Kaylee Misko and Lane Misko, sister, Gladys Mathews and husband Charles, in-laws, Grace Flanigan, Richard Gladhill, Judy Gladhill and Donald Gladhill and wife Gloria, numerous nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his siblings, Edgar Wright and former wife Mary and wife Betty, Katherine Culler and husband Harold, Naomi Baker and husband Ralph and Alice Smith and husband Harry.  He was also preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law John and Mary Alice Gladhill, in-laws, Madeline Main and husband Harry, Merle Gladhill and wife Margaret, Helen England and husband Edwin, Richard Flanigan, John Gladhill and Alfreda Gladhill.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, on Monday, June 6, 2016 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701.  The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 31 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701.   Rev. Douglas Jones And Dr. Mike O’Donnell will officiate.  Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
