Betty Cannon

February 11, 1927 — June 5, 2016

Mrs. Betty Price Cannon, 89, of Frederick, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016, at the Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was the loving wife of Connie Mack Cannon. They were married for 68 years. Born in Frederick, on February 11, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Melvin and Mary Ethel Horman Price. She was raised by her aunt and uncle after the death of her mother, Vernon and Dora Horman Price.

Betty had worked for many years at Hiltner's Furniture Store as a bookkeeper. She had also worked for the Frederick News and Post.

She was a member of the Brook Hill United Methodist Church and had taught Sunday School. She had volunteered for Hospice of Frederick County and was in their hall of fame, and had also volunteered for several more organizations.

Surviving in addition to her husband, are her two children, Timothy L. Cannon, of Frederick and Terri J. Cannon and husband Sabino Ortiz, of Grant, CO, two sisters, Jennie Price Hemp, of Jefferson and Shirley Price Speak, of Frederick, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Bernard T., Ralph S., and Kenneth L. Price.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, June 13, 2016, at the Brook Hill United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dana Werts, will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.  Arrangements are with the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Brook Hill United Methodist Church, 8946 Indian Springs Road, Frederick, MD 21702 or to Hospice of Frederick County, P. O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
