Paul Matthew Butman
April 17, 1983 — July 30, 2016
Paul was a 2001 graduate of Walkersville High School. He was employed by WESCO (CSC), working at their Gaithersburg location as a warehouse manager. Paul largest passion in life was music. He loved writing, playing, performing and recording music and was most well known as a founding member of the band "Things that Fly". He also loved the city of Detroit and everything the city had to offer including their sports teams. He was a loyal fan of the Lions, Tigers, Redwings and Pistons throughout his life. More recently, Paul started a hobby of working with wood pallets, normally being thrown away and instead, creating beautiful furniture for others.
Paul would light up a room with his presence and everyone would flock to say hello and give a big hug, and his memory makes you smile. Paul was gifted in engaging and reaching out to everyone, whether young or old, even strangers. Paul’s kindness, rather than judging or ignoring those around him is a life lesson for many. His sense of humor lives on and helps to make sad hearts glad, today. His presence will always be felt.
Paul is the twin brother of Mark Andrew Butman, the older brother of Laura Christine Mazaika, the uncle of Mia Sunshine Mazaika and Julia Gold Mazaika and the grandson of Don and Ivon Butman. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Frank and Julia Kanopsky.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 8, 2016 from 6 to 9 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, August 9, 2016 beginning at 2 PM at the Fredericktowne Baptist Church, 8645 Biggs Ford Rd., Walkersville, MD 21793. The interment will be private.
