James Franklin Crampton

June 8, 1934 — August 10, 2016

Mr. James Franklin Crampton, 82, of Jefferson, died Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the loving and devoted husband of Charlotte LaRue (Remsberg) Crampton for 57 years.

Born June 8, 1934, in Jefferson, he was a son of the late Keefer Roscoe Crampton Sr. and Edna Hazel (Spurrier) Crampton.

Jim graduated from Frederick High School Class of 1952. He served in the US Army and Army Reserves from 1956 to 1962. He was a carpenter by trade, however, he was a jack-of-all trades always there to help out his family, friends and neighbors. In his early years, Jim played the cornet in the Jefferson Band and was a power hitting shortstop for the Jefferson Baseball team. In his spare time, he loved to play cards, go out to eat, work on endless projects in his workshop, and go to auctions. He collected many "treasures" over the years. Most importantly, Jim enjoyed the company of his family and close friends.

In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his daughters, Collee Jo Miller and husband Jim and Gina Leigh Donahoe and husband Dewayne, grandchildren, Hunter Dewayne Donahoe, Abigail Leigh Donahoe and Ashley Renee Miller, great-grandson, Ryan Matthew Joseph Miller, sister, Joan Crampton Remsberg, brothers, Keefer Roscoe Crampton Jr. and wife Shirley, Joseph Eugene Crampton and wife Mary and Richard Lee Crampton Sr. and wife Eleanor, sister-in-law, Dorothy Ranneberger, numerous nieces, nephews and caregivers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm, on Sunday, August 14, 2016, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. The funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, on Monday, August 15, 2016 in the Etchison Memorial Chapel at the funeral home. Pastor Chad Weddle will officiate. Interment will follow at Jefferson Reformed Cemetery, Jefferson.
