James William "Jim" Crawford

Mr. James William "Jim" Crawford, of Frederick passed into the arms of his blessed Savior, Saturday, August 27, 2016, after a long illness.

Preceded in death by his parents, Leslie P. and Marian G. Crawford, brothers, Terrance Crawford and Robert Crawford, grandchild, Paige and first wife, Sue Crawford.

Jim was a devoted husband to Marilyn L. Crawford for 39 years.  He was a very proud father to Amanda Shontere and husband Richard of Brunswick and Brian Crawford and wife Christy of Westminster. He was known as "PamPaw" to his grandchildren, Kirsten, Ricky, Ashley, Dymond Shontere, Christopher Garvin and newborn, Skylar Crawford, who he was blessed to see a day before his passing.  In addition he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim proudly served in the Army for ten years, including a tour in Vietnam.  He was a supervisor and technician at Verizon for 33 years.

Jim was a frequent volunteer at New Life Christian School serving as a computer technician for several years.  Also, he served the primary grades in the role of "Johnny Appleseed" and acted as a surrogate grandfather to the 2nd grade students whose grandparents were unable to attend on "Grandparents Day".

He was a skilled carpenter, computer tech. expert and a Jack-of-all-trades.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:00PM, on Saturday, September  3, 2016, at St. Joseph's on Carrollton Manor, 5843 Manor Woods Road, Frederick, MD 21703. Father Lawrence Frazier will officiate. Inurnment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Jim's name to the Kline Hospice House, 7000 Kimmel Road, Mt. Airy, MD 21771.  We are forever indebted to the staff of Kline House for their compassionate and loving care  for Jim the past few months.
