Thomas “Tommy” Elwood Parsley, 72 of Myersville, MD passed away on September 4, 2016 at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
Tommy was born in Takoma Park, MD to Clarence E and Sarah E Parsley on July 10, 1944. He was a 1963 graduate from Damascus High School. He retired from Verizon in 2008 after 44 years and served in the Army National Guard from 1963 - 1970.
Tommy married Barbara Phillips on April 2, 1966 and raised 2 daughters. He is survived by his wife of 50 years; daughters Tamila “Tammy” and her husband Marvin Stroop; Patricia “Patty” and her husband Robert Young; his brother James and sister-in-law Jane Parsley; his sister Dorothy and brother-in-law Alton Tavenner; grandsons Christopher Geary and wife Heather, Bryan Stroop and fiancé Jennifer Hertzog; Cody Stroop, and Levi Young; great grandchildren Brant, Hayden and Kayley Geary; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Cecil and Michael Parsley and his sister Elaine Schwartzbeck.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on September 10, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Myersville, MD. Rev. David Howell, will officiate. Interment will be private. The family invites all to come celebrate his life after the services at the Myersville Municipal Hall. Arrangements are with the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, Frederick.
