Steven “Steve” Clayton Danner, 58, of Frederick, passed away on the morning of September 7, 2016. Steve passed away at Frederick Memorial Hospital as a result of complications from diabetes.
Steve Danner was born in Frederick, Maryland on July 29, 1958. He was the second son of William and Marie Danner.
Steve was a great man with compassion for all he met. He grew up in Frederick with a love of sports. Steve played baseball and football for Frederick High School and attended Frederick Community College, in which here played college baseball. Fondest memories of his Dad, William, teaching he and his brother Dwayne, the game of baseball in a vacant parking lot. Steve also played baseball in East Frederick Little League and Babe Ruth League. Steve also loved football and cheered for the home teams in the NFL. He started out as a Redskins fan but grew to love the Baltimore Ravens.
Steve was employed with the National Institute of Health for 30 years prior to his recent retirement. He established many friends at NIH and he considered his closest work buddies as family. Steve often spoke of wonderful times had at work and the love he had for coworkers. Steve was a member of American Legion Francis Scott Key Post 11. Steve had a passion for Gold. He enjoyed golfing with friends from work and his army buddies he met up with yearly on trips to Myrtle Beach, SC.
Steve was a kind, loving, friend, brother, father and grandfather to all. A man who loved life and had a compassionate heart. A friend too many and a smile to strangers. Besides a true fan to the Baltimore Ravens, the loves of his life were his children and grandchildren. Steve knew no great joy. He always felt that his greatest accomplishments was being a father to three beautiful girls, but becoming a grandfather brought a renewed love and overwhelming peace and happiness to his life. Steve will always be remembered as a selfless, loving and giving man. He greatly enjoyed playing video games with Kaden (Grandson) and other games with Amaya and Brooklyn (granddaughters).
Steve is survived by his daughters, Chasity Danner (Brandon Boyd), Ashley Danner (Breon Stockton) and Amanda Danner. He is also survived by grandson, Kaden Danner and granddaughters, Amaya Stockton and Brooklynn Boyd. Steve leaves behind brother, Dwayne Danner (Wendy Danner); sisters, Kathy Folsom and Cynthia Wiley (Clarence Wiley). Steve will be remembered fondly by Margaret Kline and Tammy Dinterman.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Danner; mother, Marie Danner and brother, Kristian B. Danner.
His memory will be shared by numerous relatives, especially nephews and nieces, friends and a host of young men that called him “Unk”.
