Alice Isabelle Kennedy

Mrs. Alice I. Kennedy, 92, of Frederick, died Tuesday, September 13, 2016. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Kennedy, who she married on October 30, 1942.

Born on March 14, 1924, in Frederick County, she was the daughter of the late George and Isabelle (Rutherford) Wilson. Through her childhood, Mrs. Kennedy resided with the Clayton Houck family near Union Bridge.

Mrs. Kennedy was a 1941 graduate of Frederick High School. Previously, she worked at C.C. Carty Furniture Store, Price Electric Company and at J.M. Bucheimer Company. In 1974, she began working for U.S. Army Medical Material Agency (USAMMA) and retired in 1987.

She loved her family, flowers and quilting. She was a member of the Schoolhouse Quilters of Frederick City since 1987. In addition, she was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church and active life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Francis Scott Key Unit 11. She was a Past President of the auxiliary and has served as unit secretary and held other chairmanships. Also, she was a member of the Salon 57 of the 40 and 8.

Mrs. Kennedy is survived by her sons, Robert A. "Brick" Kennedy of Frederick (Jenna Coker of Rapid City, SD) and V. Kevin Kennedy (Mary "Libby" Plumer) of Frederick, grandchildren, Robert S. Kennedy (Shari) of Warrenton, VA and Kristie Reinhardt and (Carlos) of Frederick, great-grandchildren, Haley Kennedy, Jack Kennedy, Nicholas Kennedy, Ky Reinhardt and Kia Reinhardt.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7pm, on Monday, September 19, 2016 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 in the Etchison Memorial Chapel at the funeral home. Deacon John Manley will officiate. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Garden.
