Charles Vernon Mcdonald, Sr.

Charles Vernon McDonald, Sr., 90, of Silver Springs, FL, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2016. He was born March 29, 1926 in Barnsville, MD. He was the son of the late Vernon Ranson McDonald and Myrtle Davis McDonald. He was preceded in death by his sister Violet May.He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served his country during World War II. He is survived by his loving wife, Mabel, of 71 beautiful years.  They resided in Buckeystown, MD and upon retirement moved to Silver Springs, FL where they enjoyed many wonderful years fishing, camping and traveling.He is also survived by his daughter Carol Ann Hocking (Chuck) and his son Charles Vernon McDonald, Jr. (Barbara), and his grandchildren, Diana Warner (Thomas), Hiedi Forrester (John), Dawn Kersey (Michael), Melissa Davis (Adam), Justin McDonald (Vickie) and Kathryn Tarka (Edward), and several great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.He will be missed by all his friends especially the Orndorff family who have been such a blessing to our family.The family will receive friends at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 3 - 6 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 11 am.
