Earl P. Easton, Sr., died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday morning, September 17, 2016, at the Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was the loving husband of Anna Belle Summers Easton of Adamstown, MD, for 48 years.
Born August 10, 1923, Mr. Easton was the son of the late Harry Nelson Easton, Sr. and Effie Estel Heater Easton, both of Frederick. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mamie Shaw of Vienna, VA; four brothers, Carl F. Easton of Venice, FL, Harry N. Easton of Frederick, and Lawrence and Franklin Easton who died in childhood; and one grandchild, Gregory J. Troy.
Mr. Easton graduated from Frederick High School in June 1940. He enlisted in the army in 1943 and attended Lafayette College in Easton, PA to train as a medic. He was wounded in World War II by sniper fire in Holland, and awarded the Purple Heart in December of 1944. In 1988, he retired from the M.J. Grove Lime Company, where he worked for many years. He was a member and former treasurer of Adamstown Community Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are seven children, Earlene P. Easton and Susan C. Best (Richard), both of Frederick, Earl P. Easton, Jr. (Lesia) of Gaithersburg, MD, Marilyn Easton of Raleigh, NC, Glenda Goff (Dave) of Point of Rocks, MD, Tim Summers (Susan) of Monrovia, MD, and Jeff Summers (Cindy) of Hagerstown, MD; nine grandchildren, Joshua Troy (Haleh) of Chevy Chase, MD, Dr. Chase Smith (Michelle) of Baltimore, Emily and William Easton of Gaithersburg, Matt Goff of Point of Rocks, Tim Summers of Frederick, Luke Summers of Monrovia, Bradley Summers of Hagerstown, and Ryan Parks of Smithsburg; and four great grandchildren, Brian and Matthew Troy of Chevy Chase and Nathaniel and Ethan Goff of Waynesboro, PA.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday between 6 and 8 p.m. at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Pastor Jeff Summers of Harvest Life Ministries will officiate. Interment will be in Manor Cemetery of Frederick.
