Mr. Roy James Chambers, 79, of Frederick, passed away at home, Wednesday, October 5, 2016. He was the husband of Bonnie Chambers for 55 years.
Born November 15, 1936 in Milwaukee, WI, he was the son of the late Russell and Laura (Shanahan) Chambers. Roy grew up in Springville, Iowa. He lived in the Washington, DC-Metro area for most of his life. He was a veteran of the US AirForce. During his life time he was employed as an electrician, firefighter, bartender, realtor, retail manager, taxi driver, insurance claims manager, and defensive driving instructor . He attended Montgomery Junior College and the University of Maryland. He was a graduate of the Al Summers Umpire School, and Control Data Institute (CDI).
In addition to his wife, Roy is survived by his daughter, Clara Lynn Winch and husband Russell, grandson, Nicholas Patrick Winch, brother, Robert Chambers and wife Cathy, sisters, Judith Schell and Margaret Gramling and husband Max, numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his family.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm, on Monday, October 17, 2016 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Internment will be private.
