Gary Wayne Smith, Sr.

July 1, 1949 — October 25, 2016

Mr. Gary Wayne Smith, Sr. age 67, longtime resident of Frederick, went home peacefully with loving family at his bedside, residing in Thurmont, MD on October 25, 2016. Born on July 1, 1949 in Frederick, MD he was the son of the late Charles and Mabel Smith. He was married to Gayla Smith for 45 loving years.

Mr. Smith was an U.S. Marine. In his free time his pleasures where fishing, the Dallas Cowboys, and most of all was enjoying his family first.

Mr. Smith is survived by two sisters and two brothers, one sister in law Linda and husband Robert Remsburg; his son Gary Wayne Smith, Jr. and wife Stacey (who he considered his own daughter), one grandson Shawn (Rip Master) and his wife Brittany Smith (who he considered his own granddaughter), one granddaughter Bobbi Jo (Pumpkin) Smith and boyfriend Troy Roberts (who he considered his own grandson), one granddaughter Heather and husband James Willard; great-grandsons Shawn Smith, Jr., Shane Smith, Brody and Eli Willard, great-granddaughters Paisley Roberts and one on the way Bailey Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be remembered by his two special friends, Fred Watts of Frederick and Cathy Maddox of Thurmont. He is predeceased by one loving sister Grace Fowler and great-granddaughter Brianne Smith.

Friends will be received on Friday, October 28 from 5 to 7 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where a services will begin in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home at 7 PM. A family member, Sherry Simons will officiate. The interment will be private.
