Calvin "Buck" Craver, age 98 lifelong resident of Yellow Springs, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2016. He was the devoted husband of Betty J (Rothenhoefer) Craver. Born on July 13, 1918 in Yellow Springs, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Mary J. (Tyler) Craver.
Buck was proud to say he was the first person from Frederick County to volunteer for the draft during World War II. Following his service in the Army he worked at Price Electric, Frederick Tool and Die and most recently for Hood College until his retirement at the age of 86. In his free time played the lottery, enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, wildlife and gardening.
Buck is survived by his children Twain Craver and wife Libby and Marsha Craver; grandchildren of Alan Shoemaker and Chad Craver; step granddaughter of Mary-Jean Stottlemyer and step great-granddaughter Lillian Stottlemyer. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where services will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home on Monday, November 14, 2016 at 10 AM. Rev. Ken Humbert will officiate.
