Joann Sue Cradock

JoAnn S. (Joan) Cradock of Frederick, MD, passed away after a brief battle with cancer on Monday, November 21, 2016. She was the loving wife of James Cradock of 49 years. Born on December 11, 1943 in St. Louis, MO, she was a daughter of the late Monte and Marie Thomure.
Joan and Jim raised their three daughters in Kensington, MD, where they were active members of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Joan was also a long time volunteer at Holy Cross Elementary School. In 1992, they moved to Macedonia, OH, where she worked for the Macedonia Fire Department as the Secretary to the Fire Chief. In 2005, they returned to the east coast, settling in Frederick, MD and Newtown, PA so they could be near their grandchildren. One of Joan's greatest joys was spending time with her five grandchildren.
A devoted Catholic, Joan was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Frederick, where she was an active member of the Drexel Voyagers, and St. Andrew Catholic Church in Newtown, PA.
She is also survived by daughters Jeanne Mulcahy and her husband Aaron of Frederick, Julie O'Leary and her husband Kevin of Anchorage, AK, and Janet Stankus and her husband Brian of Ewing, NJ; sisters Betty Fratangelo and her husband Victor, Janet Campise and her husband Sam, and Mary Lou Patterson and her husband J.R.; sister-in-law Carroll Cradock; grandchildren, Daniel and Christopher Mulcahy, Lauren O'Leary, Elise and Nathan Stankus,l nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church St., Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 8428 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.  There will also be a viewing one hour prior to the funeral mass. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 8428 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702 or The Academy of the Holy Cross, 4920 Strathmore Avenue, Kensington, MD 20895.
