Forrest "John" Johnston

Mr. Forrest Christian "John" Johnston, 87, of Union Bridge, died Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Marietta (Myers) Johnston for 20 years.

Born April 25, 1929, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late William and Emma (Cook) Johnston.

John was a retired veteran from the US Army and served in the Korean War. He was member of the AMVets, Eagles and Patriotic Club. In his spare time, John was an avid fisherman and card player. He also enjoyed going to the Charles Town Races and Slots.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his daughter, Marlene Singletary, son Edward Johnston, step-son, Stephen "Sam" Mutchner and wife Linda, grandchildren, Edward Johnston and Kevin Johnston, sister, Connie Shafer, numerous nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his brother, Carroll "Chick" Johnston.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3pm, on Sunday, December 11, 2016, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. The funeral service will be at 11:00AM, on Monday, December 12, 2016, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
