Mrs. Doris Lorraine Cupino, age 83, of Frederick, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016. She was the wife of the late James F. " Jimmy" Cupino, who passed away on November 29, 1983. Born on February 18, 1933, in Burkittsville, she was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Margaret Wallace.Doris was, first, a Mom and a homemaker. She later entered the workforce, working for Woolco in their Domestics Department. She also worked as the Executive Secretary for Federated Charities for many years. She owned her own antique store and was a Certified Nursing Assistant, proving care to many people, privately and as an employee of Citizen's Nursing Home. She was a long time member of Evangelical Lutheran Church where she served as a Communion Assistant and participated in bible studies. Doris was a member of the American Legion FSK Post 11, Frederick. She was a proud Den Mom for the Cub Scouts. In her free time, she enjoyed painting, crafting, making jewelry, playing cards, making greeting cards, feeding her backyard birds and squirrels, and spending time with her family.Doris was the loving mother of James F. Cupino, Jr. of Frederick; grandmother of Angela M. Cornell and husband Russell L. of Wolfsville; Natalie E. Ritenour and husband Jeffrey A. of Wolfsville; and Katie J. Lyburn and husband Bryan of Frederick. She was the proud great grandmother of Sophia, Jonathan and Jack Cornell; Grace, Jacob, and Ellie Ritenour; and Anna Lyburn. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by a daughter Helen Estelle Capino and daughter- in-law Elizabeth Marsh Cupino and 8 siblings. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Kenney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church St., Frederick. Funeral services are planned for Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Services will be held at Evangelical Lutheran Church, 31 East Church St., Frederick. The Rev. Doug Jones will officiate. The internment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Doris' name to Hospice of Frederick County, PO Box 1799, Frederick, Maryland 21702.
