Born February 6, 1953, Cathy passed away quietly in her sleep at her home in Fredrick after a long illness. Cathy lived at her MedSource Community Services, Inc. home for over 28 years, where she was cared for by an amazing staff and who will miss her sassy ways and big hearted laugh. Disabled since early childhood, Cathy has been cared for in the most exemplary way by a long list of dedicated staff working for multiple agencies in the State of Maryland, including the Human Development Council of Frederick, MD – which she attended for over 17 years. Her family is forever grateful for the level of care and concern showed her during her long and happy life.

Cathy was pre-deceased by her Mother, Jane Ann (Wright) Washington of Thomas, WV and Knoxville, TN, as well as two of her brothers; Jesse James Jones Jr. of Ridgeley, WV and Westley Gregg Evans of Hazelhurst, GA. She is survived by sisters-in-law Patricia “Trish” Jones of Ridgeley, WV and Shirley Evans of Hazelhurst, by brothers Barry Jones and wife Rebecca of Azusa, CA and Larry “Mickey” Jones and wife Karen of Hudson, NH and Aunt Deborah “Debbie” and Uncle Bob Burnette of Columbia, MD. Cathy’s many nephews and nieces include Kristie, Jodi, Michael, James, Matthew, Nickolas, John, and Samantha, with many grand-nephews and nieces and great-grand ones too.

Friends may gather at 10am Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, Maryland 21701 for a memorial service to celebrate Cathy’s life. Cathy will then be interred in a summer burial in Cumberland at a date yet to be determined. Family and long term caregivers will be notified well in advance.
