Rowena Hildebrand

Mrs. Rowena Pfeifer Hildebrand, age 90 of Buckeystown, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at her son’s residence in New Market.  She was the wife of the late George Edward Hildebrand who passed away on May 28, 2005.  Born on September 24, 1926 in Buckeystown, MD, she was the daughter of the late George Slater and Ruth (Compher) Pfeifer.

Mrs. Hildebrand was a graduate of Frederick High School in the class of 1943.  Following graduation she worked at Bennetts Department Store where she found her love of cosmetics.  She was an Avon representative beginning in 1964 and continued that work for 40 years.  She was active in her church, the Buckeystown United Methodist Church teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and was involved with the board of childcare.  She was a member of the Carroll Manor Fire Company Auxiliary helping with community events and the former Frederick Civinettes Club.  Most of all, Mrs. Hildebrand was a good homemaker, enjoying cooking and entering items in the Frederick Fair.

Mrs. Hildebrand is survived by her son Ronald Edward Hildebrand and wife Marilyn Nudd of New Market; grandchildren Christopher Slater Hildebrand and Rebecca Lynn Hildebrand Carr; and great-grandchildren Colby James Reid, Conner Brian Carr, Emma Elizabeth Hildebrand and Riley Frances Hildebrand.  She is additionally survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 10, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where a funeral service is planned for Wednesday, January 11, 2016 at 1 pm in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home.  Rev.
