Dorothy Eleanor Miller

Dorothy Eleanor Miller, age 97 of Frederick, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at her residence. Born on July 25, 1919 in New Bedford, Massachusetts to the late Frank S. Sr. and Christina Damazo (nee Cotter). She was the beloved wife, of 69 years, to the late Theodore Eugene Miller.

Dorothy grew up in New Bedford, Massachusetts. She went to earn her degree in Nursing at the New England Sanatorium and Hospital in Melrose, Massachusetts in 1944. Dorothy would go on to spend 55 years as a Registered Nurse.

She married Theodore E. Miller on January 5, 1943 and joined him at various posts in the U.S. Army during World War II. She taught student nurses in the Army Air Corp at Middlebury Hospital in Dixon, NJ. Dorothy received a certificate of commendation from the U.S. Government for her service to our country during World War II.


Dorothy is survived by her children Cheryl Christine Miller-Arndt of Spokane, WA and Daryl Miller of Frederick; her grandchildren Brent Miller, Mark Miller, and Brandon Miller; her great-grandchildren Cyrus Miller, Silvianna Miller, Marshal Miller, and Malcom Miller; siblings Milton Damazo, Ray Damazo, Paul Damazo, Frank Damazo, Dave Damazo, and Joe Damazo. She is predeceased by her siblings Naomi Adams, Evelyn Damazo, and Herbert Damazo.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Frederick Seventh Day Adventist Church, 6437 Jefferson Pike, Frederick, MD 21703 with Pastor Joseph Damazo officiating.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Dorothy’s name to the Frederick Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School at the above church address.
