Herbert Roy Brown, Sr.

Mr. Herbert Roy Brown, Sr., 81, of Frederick, died Sunday, February 5, 2017 at his residence.  He was the husband of Dorothy May Brown.

Born April 5, 1935, in Sandersville, GA, he was the son of the late Thomas and Lennie Maude (Dixon) Brown.

Hebert was a Master Chief Hospital Corpsman for the US Navy.  He served in the Vietnam War from August 19, 1969 to June 19, 1973. After retiring from the Navy in 1976, h e was the Program Coordinator for the Vietnam Head Injury Program. After retiring from this position, Herbert moved to Bradenton, FL, where he was member of the Kiwanis Club.  In his spare time, he was an avid fisherman.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Vickie Southers and husband Richard, Herbert "Chip" Brown, Jr. and Gregory Brown and wife Renee, grandchildren, Jordan Southers and wife Meredith, Adam Southers and wife Jennifer, Caroline Southers, Leah Brown, Kathryn Brown, Emily Brown and Lauren Brown, sister, Marie Whitaker and husband Dave, numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM, on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at the Buckeystown United Methodist Church, 3440 Buckeystown Pike, Buckeystown, MD 21717.  Rev. Charles Rice will officiate.  Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
