Myrtle Thomas Painter

Mrs. Myrtle Thomas Painter, 94, of Frederick, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. She had been a resident of Homewood at Crumland Farms since 2010. Born in Frederick on February 19, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Lee C. and Kate Crum Thomas, of Adamstown. She was the wife of the late H. Kenneth Painter, who died on May 5, 2010. She and her husband moved to Gaithersburg, where she was a homemaker and raised her family. After raising her children she and her husband enjoyed kicking up their heels and dancing at various locations.
She was a graduate of Frederick High School and attended Western Maryland College. She had worked at Montgomery Wards and Lilypons Water Gardens.
Surviving are her children, Kenneth L. Painter and wife Sharon, of Frederick, Nancy E. Strohmeyer, of Germantown and Gary T. Painter and wife Gail, of Merritt Island, FL, one sister, Lucille Hall and husband Emory, of Virginia Beach, VA, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Archie Thomas and Raymond Thomas.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Monday, February 13, 2017, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Thomas Kaylor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Grace United Methodist Church, 119 North Frederick Ave., Gaithersburg, MD 20877.
