Charlotte Kay Baker

August 14, 1947 — March 23, 2017

Charlotte Kay Baker, 69, of New Market, MD, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She will be sadly missed by her life partner, Michael James Trappen. Born in Cumberland, MD, on August 14, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Vernon Baker and Margaret Friend Baker Wolfe. She was the step daughter of Neil Wolfe, of Mt. Lake Park, MD.
She was an active member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed quilting with the Twin Spires Quilters for the Lutheran World Relief and being involved in bible study and charitable giving.  She was also an active member in her community being a past president of the Lake Linganore Association's Board of Directors and past Chair of the Summerfield Village Committee.  She ran for the elected position of Frederick County Commissioner without realization.  Not as recent, a member of the City of Gaithersburg Beautification Committee.  She was an avid reader.
Charlotte had worked many years as an Administrative Legal Assistant  She attended the University of West Virginia and University of Maryland for paralegal studies.  She was a member of the National Capital Area Paralegal Association and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
Surviving in addition to her step father and life partner, are her children, Andrew W. Matsko, Joseph M. Matsko and wife Timothianne and Kristine D. Rosenfeld and husband Scott, two brothers, Paul H. Baker and wife Bonnie and Gary W. Wolfe and wife Lisa, seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Ralph, mother Margaret and brother, Jeffrey Wolfe.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 31 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Deacon Mike O'Donnell, will officiate the service. Interment will  be private. Donations may also be made to the New Market District Volunteer Fire Company, Inc.
