Anita Coronel Jones

Mrs. Anita Coronel Jones, 90, of Frederick, died Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late William Irving Jones, Jr., who preceded her in death in 2003.

Born June 6, 1926, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, she was the daughter of the late Ulpiano and Anastasia "Anne" Lyng Coronel.

Anita was a teacher at Middletown High School for 25 years until retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and was active in the Frederick Literacy Council and the Citizens Nursing Home Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children, Kathleen Jones and her partner, Ray Mullican; William Jones III and his wife Jane; and Thomas Jones and his wife Nancy; grandchildren, Kara Jackson, Benjamin Taylor, Sean Jones, Sara Cleary, Nathan Jones, Ana Casillas and Christopher Jones, great-grandchildren, Liana, Noah, Garrett, Charlie, Molly and Phineas Irving.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Steven Coronel Jones.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm, on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM, on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 118 E. 2nd Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Father Charles Wible will officiate. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Citizens Nursing Home Auxiliary, 1920 Rosemont Avenue, Frederick, MD 21702 or to the Literacy Council of Frederick County Inc., 110 E. Patrick Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
