Merry Anne Markland

Merry Anne Markland (nee Elwell) 54, passed away at Glade Valley Center in Walkersville, Maryland on Tuesday, December 27, 2016. She was a resident of Green Hill Manor, Adamstown, Maryland.

Born January 20, 1962 in Sellersville, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Wanda M. Elwell and the late Herbert James Elwell Jr.

She was a 1980 graduate of Souderton Area High School and a 1984 graduate of Ursinus College, Collegeville, Pennsylvania. After graduation, she moved to Long Island, NY where she worked for the Brentwood School District. After moving to Germantown, MD, she worked for Montgomery Mutual Insurance until retiring due to her disability. After retiring, she volunteered at the DALY Elementary School.

She moved to Adamstown in 2000. One of her favorite things was walking her dog Chaz in the neighborhood and talking to the other residents. She attended Trinity United Methodist Church of Frederick, where she was a member of the Stephen Ministry.

She is survived by her mother Wanda, her brother, Herbert James III and William Ernest, her sister Joy Lynne Rank and a maternal aunt and her husband. She is also survived by five nieces and nephews, eleven great nieces and eight cousins.

She was predeceased by her father, Herbert James Jr., her older sister, Gay Elwell Stirner and her youngest brother, Jonathan Elam, as well as both sets of grandparents and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 705 West Patrick Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
