Matthew Ellis

Mr. Matthew Ellis, age 32 of Frederick passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017.  Born on April 16, 1985 he was the beloved son of Valyrie Ellis & Robert Ellis.   Matthew was an avid animal and dog lover.  He had recently opened his own animal care service which was growing rapidly.  He also volunteered with his mother at  Tara's House Animal Rescue, and had assisted in the transporting  of adoptable rescue dogs to adoption events where he also assisted as an adoption coordinator.  In his youth he played for Frederick American Little League, and went on to play on two Frederick Babe Ruth state championship and Regional Runner up baseball teams as a pitcher.  He was a lifelong Baltimore Orioles fan and especially liked collecting Cal Ripkin memorabilia.  He loved the Dallas Cowboys and was a fan from a young age, (much to the chagrin of his older brother a Redskin fan.) Matthew was a free spirit, and loved the outdoors and spent hours exploring in the Frederick Watershed area and Gambrill State Park with friends.    In addition to his mom and dad, Matthew is also survived by his brother Justin Ellis and wife Melissa of FL, his niece Stella Rose Ellis, Connor Bostwick,and a number of  aunts, uncles and cousins in Texas and Oregon.    A celebration of his too short life will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 1 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.  The interment will be private in  Lewisville Texas.  Contributions may be made in Matthew's name to Tara's House Animal Rescue, 8775 Center Park Drive, #258, Columbia, MD 21045. www.tarashouse.net  Matthew drove dogs in their now un driveable van, and he would be so honored for his last contribution to assist them in purchase of a new one so the dogs can get to their new adopters safely
