Thomas Henry Payne, Jr.
November 25, 1932 — July 20, 2017
Mr. Payne was a lifelong member at the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Urbana. He served in the United States Navy as a Gunner's Mate traveling all around the world. He was a lifelong carpenter by trade working at Kettler Brothers in Montgomery County and later retired from Montgomery College. In his free time he made wood crafts and furniture and loved spending time with his family.
Mr. Payne is survived by his children, Rex A. Payne and wife Maurita K. of Oklahoma, Daniel T. Payne and wife Sandra L. of West Virginia, Janet M. Hoffman and husband James A. of Ijamsville, and Sherri L. Mohr and husband David L. of Ijamsville, grandchildren Bradley Payne, Thomas Payne and wife Joanie, Krista Brash and husband Paul, Jaclyn Hendershot and husband William, James Hoffman, Jr. and wife Jessica, Jacob Hoffman, Brady Mohr, Samantha Mohr and Tyler Mohr, 9 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Dorothy Shifflett and Helen Meredith, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where services will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at 11 AM. Pastor Sandi Phillips will officiate.
Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick. The in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 3519 Urbana Pike, Frederick, MD 21704.
