Lottie Marie Smith

October 18, 1919 — July 24, 2017

Lottie Marie (Tucker) Smith, at age 97. Her last 16 years were a blessing living at Homewood at Crumland Farms. She lived her life in Yellow Springs and was known for her kindness and sharing of their garden with all. She was born in Yellow Springs, October 18, 1919, to Blaine G. and Mary Eliza Tucker. She had many siblings growing up on a farm in the country. She was the last of her family living now.

She was preceded in death by husband Lawrence A. Smith, Sr. and son Lawrence A. Smith Jr, but is survived by; daughter, Mary M. and Doug Pyles, London, Ohio; and son Blaine E. and Shelly Smith, Colorado Springs, Colorado; and daughter-in-law Mary Smith of Houston, Texas. There are many grandchildren and great-grandchildren many of whom she made crocheted afghans for.

Lottie worked at the Hosiery in Frederick as a young adult during the war when work at the Hosiery changed to making and sewing parachutes for the Military. The family wishes to thank Homewood at Crumland Farms and their incredible staff. In lieu of flowers, we hope that donations be made to the Willows Unit of Homewood.

The family will receive friends for visitation at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home at 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, Md. one hour prior the funeral at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 29, 2017. Interment will be in the Garden of the Christus, Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick, Maryland.

For many years, she sang to herself, “Some glad morning when this life is o’er, I’ll fly away; to a home on God’s celestial shore, I’ll fly away....”. Well done, thou good and faithful servant.
