Ruth Cornell Fry

Mrs. Ruth Cornell Fry, 87, of Frederick, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Robert C. Fry, Sr., who died in 1994. Born in Maryland on September 4, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Hartwood and Elsie Kinsey Cornell.
Ruth was a graduate of Frederick High School class of 1948. She was retired from Montgomery County Public Schools, having worked in food service and then as a media assistant. She was a long time and devoted member of the Montgomery United Methodist Church, the Heritage Circle and served the church in many capacities. She was an active volunteer and past president of the auxiliary of Northampton Manor Nursing Home. She loved spending time and cooking meals for her entire family and friends.
Surviving are her sons, Robert C. Fry, Jr. and wife Anita, of Monrovia, Rodney C. Fry and wife Jeannie, of Urbana, and George H. Fry and wife Janet, of Gettysburg, PA, sister, Betty Bowers, of Newport Richey, FL, seven grandchildren, Nicholas Fry, Benjamin Fry and Kerri, Shannon Taylor and Andrew, Wesley Fry and Mandy, Luke Fry and Shelbie, Sarah Harne and Jake, Joy Hallfors and Sterling, eight great grandchildren, Cillian, Brooke, Calvin, Ella, Juliet, Josiah, Caleb and Samuel, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Hartwood Cornell and sister, Nancy Zern.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m., on Sunday, July 30, 2017, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, July 31, 2017, at the Montgomery United Methodist Church, 28325 Kemptown Road, Damascus, MD 20872. The Rev. John W. Rudisill, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
