Helen Houck Biehl

Mrs. Helen Houck Biehl, of Frederick, died on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Homewood at Crumland Farms, Frederick. She was the wife of the late Glenn E. Biehl, who died on April 9, 1991. Born on March 10, 1913 in Doubs, MD she was the daughter of the late Murray E. and Nina B. Hickman Houck.

Mrs. Biehl was a graduate of Frederick High School in the class of 1931. She was the last surviving member of her class. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick where she taught and volunteered in the primary department for over thirty years. She was a member of the Frederick Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, the Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Frederick Inner Wheel Rotary and an honorary member of the Carroll Manor Grange. Most of all she devoted her life to her family and home.

She survived by her two daughters: Barbara B. Baker and husband Nelson of Fort Myers, FL, Glenda B. Green and husband T. Brooke Green of Winchester, MA; five grandchildren: Dr. Nelson Baker, and wife Dawna of Atlanta, GA, Ronald Baker and wife Anita of Greenville, SC, Carole Campbell and husband Christopher of Naples, FL, Collin Green and his wife Simone of Upper Marlboro and Rodney Green and wife Jeannette of Bedford, MA; 10 great- grandchildren: Ryan Baker, Allison Baker Gifford, Amy Baker King, Christy Baker Smith, Sara Campbell, Luke Campbell, Andrew Green, Kristen Green, Connor Green and Chloe Green, two great-great-grandsons Joshua and Connor and, three nieces: Martha Houck, Carol Houck, and Mary Louise Hughes and one nephew Paul Houck. She was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Murray and brothers Francis Houck and Raymond Houck.

Friends will be received on Sunday, August 6, 2017 from 2 to 3 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where services will held at 3 PM in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The interment will be private in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Mrs. Biehl's name to the Homewood-Frederick, Willows Unit, 7407 Willow Road, Frederick, MD 21702.
