William Joseph Kundrat

The public is invited to attend A Mass in celebration of the life of SSgt. William Joseph Kundrat at 2 o’clock, Saturday September 23, 2017, at Saint John’s Catholic Church, 118 E. Second Street, Frederick. MD 21701.

Staff Sergeant William Joseph Kundrat, USMC, 33, killed on Monday July 10, 2017 along with 15 Marines and a Navy Corpsman in a Marine KC130 plane that crashed in northern Mississippi. He was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington VA on August 16, 2017.

Billy grew up in Frederick, MD and graduated in 2002 from Thomas Johnson High School, where he played football and lacrosse, Billy was also an Eagle Scout with Boy Scout Troop 799 of Fort Detrick, MD. He married his high school sweetheart Ashley Cregger Kundrat, in 2004. Billy and Ashley lived in North Carolina with their two children Ethan J. Kundrat, 14, and Aleah F. Kundrat, 9.  Billy was born in Baltimore, MD on April 14, 1984. Billy was the only child of Sergeant Major (USMC Ret) Joseph J. Jr., and Lynda Kundrat, of Frederick. He will also be sadly missed by his wife's parents, Leonard B and C. Faith Currin Cregger, of Oxford, NC, and his brother-in-law Brendan Cregger and his wife Kristi and their daughter Savanna, of Frederick, MD. Billy is also survived by numerus family members and friends.
