Louise Marie Thomas

Mrs. Louise Marie Thomas of Frederick, formally of Hicksville, NY, died Monday, August 21, 2017 at her residence. She was wife of the late Walter Thomas, who preceded her in death in 1982.

Born on April 13, 1920 in Long Island City, New York, she was one of eight children born to the late Vito and Louisa DeStefano.

Louise is survived by her three children; Richard C. Thomas and wife Karen, Marguerite Hemgen and the late Stephen Hemgen, and Walter Gerard Thomas, grandchildren; James Hemgen and wife Tami, David Thomas and wife Jennifer, Geoffrey Hemgen, Meredith McNamara and husband Ryan. She will also be missed by her seven great-grandchildren, and her two surviving sisters; Teresa Kugel and Gloria Brindle.

Louise was a devoted member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, enjoyed doing crafts in her spare time, and following her beloved team the New York Yankees.

The family will receive friends from 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM on Friday, August 25, 2017 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church St., Frederick, MD 21701. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 8428 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702. Interment will be held on Monday, August, 28, 2017, in the Holy Rood Catholic Cemetery, Westbury, NY.
