Gerald Arthur Hurley, 76, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Northampton Manor. He was the husband of Christina Lucille (Despeaux) Hurley.
Born on March 30, 1941, he was the son of the late, Arthur Lee and Inez Faye (Haupt) Hurley. Gerald worked as a projectionist with Tivoli before beginning his 30 year career with Potomac Edison, retiring as a lineman in 1996. He enjoyed 12 years with Frederick County Public Schools as a school bus driver. He was a member of the American Legion, Frederick, the National Rifle Association, a former member of the TCA and a member of Mount Lena United Methodist Church. Gerald enjoyed train collecting, camping, gardening, RVing and wood working. He especially loved his two cats, Jeff and Whiskers.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Dana Hope Dunn and husband Eddie of Frederick; son, Kevin John Hurley and wife April of Boonsboro; and grandchildren, Zane Edward Dunn III, Chase Alexander Dunn, Angel Leigh Hurley, Andrew Tres Dunn, Ian John Hurley, Jake Howard Arthur Dunn, Jed Stone Hurley and Zeke Allen Hurley.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Alvin Lee Hurley.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8pm on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, September 8th at the funeral home. Pastor Rick Shell will officiate. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
