Lavinia Mcgolerick

Mrs. Gertrude Lavinia (Harshman) McGolerick 92, of New Market, died Friday, September 8, 2017 at Northampton Manor. She was the wife of the late Jack McGolerick for 73 years.

Born February 23, 1925 in New Market, she was the daughter of the late Harry H. and Ella (Burrier) Harshman.

Lavinia was a graduate of Frederick High School Class of 1942. She was a past post master at the New Market Post Office. Also, she was a beautiful homemaker and seamstress.

She was an active member of New Market Grange #362, Frederick County Pomona Grange #11, Maryland State Grange, New Market Homemakers Club, Frederick County Farm Bureau and Bush Creek Church of the Brethren. She was Gold Sheath Member, reflecting her 50 years of Grange membership.

Mrs. McGolerick is survived by her granddaughter, Dana Lynn Shultz and husband Steve of Keymar, great-granddaughters, Amanda Shultz and Helen Shultz, sister, Grace V. Brashear Winpigler of Thurmont, sister-in-law, Joy Harshman of Bradenton, FL, brother-in-law, Kenneth McGolerick of Frederick, numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by son, Donald Allen McGolerick, brothers, Paul H. Harshman, Harold D. Harshman, Jimmy H. Yeakle, sister, B. Marie Harris and sister-in-law, Carolyn McGolerick.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8pm, on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701, with a Grange Service at 7:30PM. The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the the Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, 4821A Green Valley Road, Monrovia, MD 21770, with the family receiving friends 1 hour prior. Rev. Leo Barnes and Rev. Melissa Barnes will officiate. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, at the above address or to the New Market Grange # 362, P.O. Box 83, New Market, MD 21774.
