Archie Everett Rogers, Jr.

Mr. Archie Everett Rogers, Jr., 82, of Frederick, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017, at his home. He was the husband of Carolyn Drew Rogers and they were married in July 1955. Born in Mullins, South Carolina on February 9, 1935, he was a son of the late Archie E., Sr., and Merle Wiggins Rogers.
Archie was educated in Mullins public schools and attended Rice Business College in Charleston, SC. In 1954, Archie entered the United States Army and proudly served his country. For several years he worked as an accountant for Richard F. Kline and Todd Steel and was also salesman for the National Cash Register Company (NCR).
In 1973, Archie and Carolyn founded Rogers Office Supply and Equipment, Inc., which they owned and operated until December of 2000. In January of 2001, together they founded Rogers Engraving and Stamps until retiring in 2012.
Archie was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and has taught Sunday School and confirmation. He served as a past council member and Sunday School Superintendent.
When his children were in school, he was active in PTA and was President of PTA several years at different schools. He also went to the PTA State Convention.
He achieved his dream of becoming a pilot and loved flying his airplane. He was a founding Member of the Airport Commission and on one occasion volunteered to fly blood to Chicago for the Red Cross.
Archie was a member of the Frederick Jaycees, Optimist Club, Elks Lodge and Moose Club. He was an integral part of Frederick City as a member of the Downtown Frederick Association including serving as president; participating 12 years on the board of the Frederick County Tourism Council and two years as President; serving on the Hope VI advisory committee, Downtown Frederick Partnership, Frederick County Chamber of Commerce and has served as Treasurer and board member of Daybreak Adult Day Services. He was even involved in the start-up of the Mt. Airy Chamber of Commerce.
Family, friends and helping others were very important to Archie. Over the years, he has generously given of his time, money and resources to anyone in need, whether an individual or organization. He was a humble person who gave anonymously because he cared and loved his fellow man and most of all God.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife are his children, Marcia (Marcy) Arndt and husband Steffan, Cynthia (Cindy) Pietryga and husband Ric, Archie Eric Rogers, and Karen Peterson and husband Brad; 10 grandchildren, Casie Beam and David, Amy Harris and Brian, Megan Rauh and Tony, Bradley Drew Peterson, Carissa Pietryga, Brooke Stout, Katrina Pietryga, Brian Van Fossen and Sarah, Colin Arndt and Emily Arndt; 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Ann Brooks and two brothers, Rufus Rogers and Kathy, and Charles Rogers and Geraldine, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., on Friday, November 24, 2017, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 35 East Church Street, Rev. Douglas P. Jones and Archie's nephew, Father Joseph Rogers, will officiate. Interment will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
