Patricia P. Zimmerman 87 of Ballenger Creek passed to her Lord on November 22, 2017 at Edenton. She was the wife of Curtis E. Zimmerman who predeceased her in 1995. They were married 45 years. Together they continued working the Zimmerman Homestead as dairy farmers and raising cattle known as "Patsown Holsteins". Patricia was the daughter of John Allen and Rosa Putman and was the youngest of six children born on a farm in Buckeystown. She died the same day as the eldest, Rosa Howard. She was predeceased by siblings: Rosa Howard, Lucille Martin, Helen Marshall, Connie Cook and John Putman. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Newlon and husband Barry of Frederick, and Raylon her horse of 32 years. Many nieces and nephews whom she loved.
Patricia loved the farm and protected it with great passion until one fateful night when it was set afire. That night she was rushed to the hospital only to return to a blackened farm full of smoke. Several days later it was found she had opened her incision from abdominal surgery from screaming for help and needed to return to Baltimore for more surgery. She endured 9 more years of pain and nausea along with fear and anxiety never to walk to her farm again. At last she is at peace.
Patricia was also a breeder and showman of cocker spaniels known as " Patsown Cockers". She became an environmentalist out of concern for the earth, spending many years of her life trying to educate people on the effects of fluoride. This lead to treasured friendships across the country with Dr. George Waldbott and Dr. Clancy Gordon, Montana. She loved her cows, milking during the day and reading her cow magazines at night. She and her husband Curtis were well known for their Palomino Stallions "Skeeter and Pondarosa: who stood along Ballenger Creek.
Patricia was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Carrollton Manor. Many thanks to Father Leo, Father Frasier, Father Paul and Father Jack for their prayers and visits and to to Dr. Lee, Dr. Shah and Dr. Barakat for their care. Special thanks to nephew Dr. Michael Cox and niece Judy Pitzer for being on this journey with her. A special note to Kevin Fogg who sat for hours holding her hand till Jesus came.
Patricia wished for a private service but the family will have a memorial in the summer. You may make donations to St Joseph's Church and/or an animal rescue group to honor her love of her barn cats.
The family would like to thank everyone who stopped to offer condolences after the fire, especially the hand written letter from a gentleman.
The Zimmerman Farm started in 1762 and will continue on with her daughter. The statue of Mary still watches over us.
