Mrs. Clare (Kay) Kenner Hill, age 97 of Ijamsville, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017 at her home. Born on November 7, 1920 in Washington DC, she was the daughter of Dr. Harry Roland and Clare (Warfield) Kenner.
Mrs. Hill was an accomplished artist and author. She wrote several children's books and mainly painted with oil and water colors. She was a member of the Frederick Art Club as well as the Frederick Garden Club. In her free time she volunteered with the Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and the Red Cross. She was a longtime member of St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church in Ijamsville.
Mrs. Hill is the mother of William G. Hill III, Dudley B. Hill, and Ridgley G. Hill, grandmother of Katherine Truxton Hill, and the great-grandmother of Tyler Hill. She is additionally survived by her sister Mary Ann Dupont and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 2 to 3 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where a memorial service will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home beginning at 3 PM. Father Michael Jendrek will officiate. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Mrs. Hill's name to Hospice of Frederick County, PO Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
