Bernice Naomi Soule

Mrs. Bernice Naomi Soule, 81, of Frederick, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at the Glade Valley Center, in Walkersville. She was the wife of the late Elliott A. "Slim" Soule, they were married on November 28, 1987 and he died on August 19, 2013.. Born in Brunswick on June 9, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Rhomer "Rex" and May Ferguson Minnick.
Bernice was a graduate of Brunswick High School class of 1954. She had been employed J. J. Newberry and the Lace Store in Brunswick and retired from Geico Insurance Company in 1984. After retirement she worked as a receptionist for Carmack Insurance from 1984 to 1992.
She and her husband loved to travel and had taken 21 cruises and many other trips. She enjoyed the Nationals, Orioles, Washington Redskins and the Baltimore Ravens. She had a great love for providing care for the sick, needy and devoted much time, as a care giver to many family members and friends.
Bernice was a former member of the Faith Assembly of God Church in Brunswick and also the Forest Grove United Methodist Church. She was presently attending Parkway Community Church.
Surviving are her nephews, Edwin Waters, Jr., of Frederick, Glenn Whitmore and wife Sueann, of Bunker Hill, WV, Ronald Whitmore and wife Linda, of Charles Town WV and Kenneth Whitmore, of Virginia Beach, VA, many cousins and a special friend, Sharon Valenciana. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Erma Whitmore,Ruth Waters, Mary Lloyd, Louise Stotler and her first husband,Gene E. Summers.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m., on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Howard Ruley, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Locust Valley Cemetery, Burkittsville.
