Robert Lee Shankle

April 11, 1968 — January 30, 2018

Mr. Robert “Bubba” Lee Shankle, Jr. of Frederick, MD died on Tuesday January 30, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband of Jennifer E. (Bittner) Shankle; they were married on September 23, 2006. Robert was born in Frederick, MD on April 11, 1968 to Robert Lee, Sr. and Mary Ann Shankle.
Mr. Shankle was a career welder and machinist who was once a long time employee at EDCO, and more recently employed at NIST. Along with spending time with his beloved family and pets, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. He was also a tractor enthusiast and collector.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife is his sister Donna Dryman and significant other Richie Klein, and sister Tammy Shankle, father in law Donald Bittner and significant other Vickie Spencer, and sister in law Jeanna Flowers and significant other Robert “Bob” Alianiello, nephew Vernon Simmons and significant other Michael Shepard. He will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Norman & Florence Shankle, maternal grandmother Stella Mae Earp, and grandmother in law Madlyn Bittner.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 5, 2018 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701 from 2-4 PM. In lieu of a funeral service the family would like you to join them at the American Legion, 1450 Taney Ave, Frederick, MD 21702 directly after the viewing to continue the celebration of Mr. Shankle’s life.
