Gladys Lorraine Carey

Mrs. Gladys Lorraine Carey, 84, of Frederick, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Edward Carlton Carey, Jr. Born in Frederick on July 20, 1933 , she was a daughter of the late Merhl W. Sr., and Edith Mackley Shultz.

She was a member of the Auxiliary at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Women of the Moose Lodge # 371, where she was a past senior reagent and the Shangri-La Marine Corp League, where she held various offices including, secretary, vice president, and president. She was also a member of Emmanuel Trinity Lutheran Church. Most of all she enjoyed spending time and socializing with her family and friends.

Surviving is her daughter Lori D. Garner and husband Charles of Frederick, grandchildren Brandy and Chad, and great granddaughter, Bianca. She will also be missed by a sister-in-law, Cris Ann Shultz and brother-in-law, Joseph Gordon, both of Frederick, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by infant daughter JoAnn Carey, son Gregory J. Carey, brothers Mehrl W. Shultz, Jr., and Carroll Shultz and sister Carolyn Shultz Gordon.

The family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m., on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, March 12, 2018, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
