Ward Lloyd Zigler
April 12, 1934 — March 17, 2018
Mr. Zigler was a graduate of Frederick High School in the class of 1952. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He dedicated his life to dairy and beef farming. He served as president of Capitol Milk and was later a member of MD/VA Milk Producers. He was a member of the Jefferson County, WV Ruritan Club, the National Advertising Committee, helping to develop the Real Seal dairy logo, and the Jefferson County, WV Farm Bureau. He also served as the United States Representative to provide instruction in agriculture in European countries for the Center for Excellence In Education. In his free time, Mr. Zigler enjoyed hunting with his friends in South America and on the Eastern Shore. He enjoyed the life-long friends made through the dairy business, neighbors, people he grew up with, family, and associations to which he belonged. He worked hard and enjoyed life.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Zigler is survived by his son-in-law John Snyder of Keedysville, son Richard A. Zigler and wife Susan of Charles Town, WV, daughter Patricia Zigler Wachter of Frederick and daughter Jean Zigler and husband Robert Kotch of Pompano Beach, FL; his grandchildren Andria Snyder, Laura Snyder Tinney, Amanda Zigler Habel, Joshua Zigler, Thomas Wachter, and Kirsten Wachter Teal; great-grandchildren Evan Marvel Snyder and Juniper Habel. Mr. Zigler is also survived by his brothers Harold Zigler of Frederick, Donald Zigler and wife LaRue of Taneytown, and sisters Mae Cleveland of Tallahassee, FL and Rachel Paneck of Frederick. Mr. Zigler is preceded in death by his daughter Susan Snyder, granddaughter Ashton Wachter , brother David Zigler, and son-in-law M. Allen Wachter.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 22, 2018, from 10 AM- 1PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, where services will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 1:00 PM. Rev. Dr. Rob Apgar-Taylor will officiate. The interment will be private in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
