Jeanette Lee Long

Jeanette Lee Long, 85 of Ijamsville, Md passed away peacefully March 24th at a local hospital. Formally from New Jersey, Jeanette had been retired from nursing for 22 years from the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda Md. Jeanette was a recognized authority in Critical Care Nursing at NIH. Through her achievements as a Clinical Nurse Expert in Pediatric Oncology and as a Nurse Manager of the Cardio Vascular unit during her 33-year career, she was instrumental in developing a Clinical Preceptorship Program for new nurses on the Pediatric Oncology Unit in the late 1970’s. Jeanette provided a variety of educational programs at NIH to promote clinical excellence. In addition, Jeanette was a member of the General Lafayette Chapter NSDAR in Galloway N.J. She was also a member of the Damascus United Methodist Church. Jeanette was preceded in death by her former husband, one daughter and one grandson. She is survived by 2 sisters, 5 children, 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
