Syraina Kapsianos

Syraina Kapsianos, age 97, longtime resident of Silver Spring, more recently of Frederick, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. Born on January 26, 1921 in Scranton, PA she was the daughter of the late George William & Fani (Nikiforou) KapsianosMs. Kapsianos graduated from GAR High School in Wilkes-Barre, PA. After moving to Washington DC she took classes at Strayer College receiving a Bachelor's Degree in business. She retired from the federal government having worked for the IRS. In her free time she enjoyed photography, stamp & coin collecting, music & dancing, and visiting and staying connected to friends near and far.Ms. Kapsianos is survived by her niece Marie E. Ayton, great-nephew John W. Ayton, Jr. and many cousins and other family members. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother William George Kapsianos and a niece Janet Kapsianos-Sykes. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 at 2 PM at the Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 920 W. 7th St., Frederick, MD 21701. The burial will take place on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at a time to be determined in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Rockville.
