Philip Charles Geraci

Mr. Philip Charles Geraci, age 88 of Burtonsville passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018 at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center in Olney, MD. He was the husband of the late Dorothy S. Geraci. Born on September 22, 1929 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Philip Charles Geraci, Sr. & Grace Jones. Mr. Geraci was a graduate of Frederick High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force working as a photographer. Following his military service he wrote for various magazines and then taught photojournalism at the University of Maryland. He later started the Burtonsville Free Press newspaper. In his free time he enjoyed gardening, traveling, and watching the wildlife in his backyard. Mr. Geraci is survived by his three sons, Philip James Geraci (Judy), Ronald Blair Geraci (Tony Graziano) and Jeffrey Alan Geraci (Wendy), and by his granddaughter, Allison Geraci, his sisters, Margaret Anne Hayes and Sarah Weisberg, and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service is planned for Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 10 AM in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. Contributions may be made in Mr. Geraci's name to the charity of one's choice.
