James Avery Clark, III, 74, of Frederick passed unexpectedly and surrounded by his loving family on May 17, 2018. Born March 26, 1944 in Frederick, MD to the late James Avery Clark, Jr. and Thelma L. Clark (nee Norwood). He was the beloved husband to Virginia “Jenny” Clark.
James graduated from the St. John’s Literary Institute in 1962 and would go on to work for the family business “James Avery Clark and Sons” until his retirement in July of 2000. He was also a 25-year member of the Tuscarora Archery Club.
James also loved antique cars, going to the Great Frederick Fair, being outside whether it was to work in his garden or yard, bird watching, trips to Ocean City with his family, and lunch with his close friends every Thursday at May’s Seafood Restaurant.
He will always be remembered for the big heart he had and his ability to make others laugh. James thought life was too short to be negative. He would help others in anyway that he could. Known for his keen navigation skills, James would give rides to those in need. He also became known as “Mr. Fix it” for his abilities to repair most things. Ultimately James was dedicated to his family and especially his granddaughters.
Surviving in addition to his wife, is his son James Avery Clark IV and daughter Michelle Golden, and husband Douglas, cherished granddaughters; Madeline Golden and Emily Golden, his brothers; Dwight Clark and Jeffrey Clark, and his wife Barbara, his sisters-in-law; Barbara Joy, and husband Michael, and Sharon Droneburg, and he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701, on Monday May 21, 2018 at 10 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Adam Williams. Light refreshments will be served afterwards. Interment will be private.
