Mr. Jay Hamilton Gastley, age 73 of Mt. Airy was called home on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born on August 23, 1944 in Frederick he was the son of the late John & Phyllis Gastley.

Mr. Gastley enjoyed dancing, fishing, and playing cards. He loved going to the Cracked Claw to play the horses and also playing the Maryland Lottery.

Mr. Gastley was the father of Christine "Tina" Harris and husband Robert of Frederick and Tisha Ricketts of Hagerstown, the grandfather of Nicole Minnick & husband Corey, Michael Jay Ott & wife Ashlee, Julian Harris, Ashley Cole & husband Bobby, and Wade Ricketts, the great-grandfather of Noah, Rachel, Aaliyah, Rylee, and Michael Jay, II and the brother of Charles Gastley & wife Sarah, Paul Gastley & wife Gail, Judith Stine & husband Allen, Earl Gastley & wife Bonnie, Wayne Gastley & wife Vicki, and Debra Rhoderick. He will be fondly remembered by his special & loving sister Janice Wheeler who he lived with for over 40 years and her children who he formed a special bond with, JoAnn, Debbie and Billy. Mr. Gastley is also survived by his brother-in-law Garry Albright.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gastley is preceded in death by his siblings John David Gastley, Jr., Gerald Gastley, Gary Gastley and Phyllis Albright.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 28, 2018 from 5 to 8 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where services will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 11 AM. Rev. Sarah Gastley will officiate. The interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
