Mary Bridget O'Donnell

Mary Bridget O’Donnell, 59, of Frederick, MD, passed away unexpectedly at her home on May 29, 2018.  Born July 11, 1958 in Washington, D.C. she was the daughter of Neil J. and Clare O’Donnell (nee Hanley).

Raised in the Baltimore and Bowie area in Maryland she graduated from Wheeling University in 1980. In 1995 she got her master’s and doctorate from University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Mary loved poetry, studying English history, theater, and learning foreign languages likes French and German. She was also an avid reader and had been working on a novel.

Mary was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and was involved in the Church Choirs. She made many friends at the church and with the people that lived around her. Mary will be remembered by many for her creative imagination.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her siblings; James O’Donnell and wife Patti, Clare Mullee and husband Joe, Ann Utt and husband Derek, and Michael O’Donnell and partner Mark. She is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews, 8 great-nieces and great-nephews, and numerous other cousins.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, 2018, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 118 East 2nd Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Interment will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery.
